Warwick Journal       January 2008

Greetings Warwick members. I hope everyone is doing well and had a good and safe holiday season.  We want to welcome two new members who attended this Memberís meeting; Debbie and Clair.

A reminder to all members that your 2008 membership is due on or before January 31, 2008, and with you membership renewal you will also need to complete and submit a new Member Medical History Form.

Count Roberte Riche discussed possible 2008 events for both the Renaissance and Civil War Divisions for 2008.  However none of the dates have been confirmed yet.  Keep checking the website and/or the Yahoo Groups site as dates are confirmed and posted.

On January 19, the Renaissance Division will conduct an A&S day at the Altoona Library starting at 1pm.  Members who wish to attend need to bring a project to work on.  There will not be a formal class unless a member would like to conduct one.  If you do, you will need to contact the Count.

The Holiday Celebration Feast that was cancelled due to weather has been rescheduled for February 2 at the same location.  Set-up will start at 4pm, with the Memberís meeting being conducted at this time as well.  The Feast will run from 6-9pm, and all members will need to stay after the Feast to clean up.  Plates, silverware, and cups will be provided for this Feast only, but you will need to provide your own beverage and whatever food you want to bring.  Also remember to bring an explanation as to the origin of the dish you provide.

This will be just like the Holiday Feast in that it is open to both Divisions and you can come in any time period from the beginning of time to the 1960ís.

Another Feast has been scheduled for March 29th for the Renaissance Division only.  There will be more information to come on this one.

Major Benjamin W Shacklett announced that the Civil War Division will start itís monthly meetings again.  The first one for 2008 will be on Sunday, February 10 from 2-5:30pm at the Altoona Library.

There was a request that the monthly Memberís Meeting time be changed to accommodate those members who cannot currently attend due to work scheduled.

So it was agreed that starting with the March meeting, the time will be changed to 5pm if you are going to eat with the meeting starting promptly at 6pm.  It will still be the first Saturday of the month.

Count Roberte Riche brought up about starting Swordfighting and Archery practices again.  Archery practices were temporarily stopped due to non participation.  An idea was brought up about having a day at Scotch Ridge Nature Center in Carlisle to conduct Sword practice, Archery, Thrown Weapons, and possibly doing some open fire cooking.  Chieftain MarcŠn Ō Righney suggested trying this in sometime in February if the weather permits.  Countess Gillian Swafford made the suggestion in the spring, summer, and fall possibly doing a campout there and doing these activities at that time as well.  More information will be announced once the dates have been set.

Hope to see everyone at Februaryís Feast!

Hail to Warwick!
